Here's a list of the last three years' of effort;

EDUCATION - endless research, reading reading reading, campaigning, listening, sharing

FOOD - reducing meat eating (difficult!), lots more local food, still boycotting the two big supermarkets near here - (Sainsburys & Asda), reducing food waste, composting, growing as much of our own as possible, lots more delivered food, mainly the milkman & veggie box, lots more home cooking than packaged, selecting as much British food as possible, learning about the politics of food.

HOUSE - almost 100% low energy lightbulbs, draughtstripped as thoroughly as possible (a little more to go), topped up loft insulation, replaced 80% of remaining single glazed windows with triple fixed glazing, thermal roman blinds for office, reduced thermostat, fitted WarmWorld intelligent (fuzzy logic!) CH controls, planning solar hot water (pipework in), switched to Ecotricity, using very few chemical cleaners & volatile finishes.

TRANSPORT - converted car to run on LPG, lobbying car club to stop removing catalytic converters, using school bus, staying at home more!, no flying, use trains where affordable (or rechargeable!), overhauled bike, helped organise car club.

MONEY - lost job & became more frugal!

WATER - no chemicals in septic tank, fix dripping taps, replaced toilets with Evo & dual flush, fitted shower (first shower in 20 years here!).

ELECTRICITY - see house.

NETWORKING - Director of Sustainable Frome CIC, working with oneclimate.net, arranged showing of Age of Stupid, leafletting, events, Green Fair, lots and lots of meetings, joined capaigns, lobbying politicians, inflencing policy.

HOUSE

Airtightness is a problem in a converted older building. We had a thermal imageing survey done which pointed out some areas we hadn't thought of. The front door is very thin, the victorian dado rail is very leaky. Went crazy & replaced the six sash windows with fixed panes of triple gazing - WOW, what a difference.
